We have both the Pepper and the Salt Mill. This is an amazing mill. The difference between grinds is quite large which makes this very versatile for cooking and eating.

A beautiful unit, just the right weight and balance. The grinding mechanism makes uniform grain size depending on the setting. The smallest size setting is difficult to get to, one must make a strong twist because the salt grains are in the way. We just use the next sizes up. Becareful not to use this directly above steaming hot food, the water vapor may dissolve the salt on the grinder and eventually cause corrosion. I take this precaution and does not have corrosion problem on my shakers, I have 2 of them.

Wow! It seems the price has jumped more than $21 from July when I bought mine. Could this be an error?
I love the design of this mill and believe the mechanism, being stainless, is the only type to buy. A few years ago I got the Chateauneuf pepper mill, but I always wanted to get the salt mill to match, so I finally ordered this one. The description is accurate in saying that the finish is a matte finish. My pepper mill has a shinier finish that is much more appealing to me, and I wanted a matching set. The solution to that problem: Buy another pepper mill in the matte finish. That's what I did, so now I have three of these beautiful products. I suspect this style has been discontinued. If that's true, then my advice would be to place your order now if you like this particular salt mill. It's a classic.

This is a typical great piece of Peugeot kitchen equipment. Works great, provided that the salt crystals you put into the unit are not too large. We have some rough sea salt that is quite granular we were hoping to use in the machine. Unfortunately that salt didn't work as the rough crystal sizes were too large and would not fit in the grinding device. We will have to buy salt specifically made to fit this style grinder. A bit unfortunate as we had expected a bit better performance on a wider variety of natural salts.
