By Jason I am not a chef, but I do alot of cutting. I was very impressed with the craftsmanship of this knife. It is the sharpest knife I have ever used. Fits nicely in my hand. It is a bit on the heavy side, which I like, so that would be my only concern for other buyers. Very nice knife.

By Kristopher Logan So I was feeling flush & upgrading the knives. I'd already bought the 10" slicer that day, just cuz, & went back to the place with a question. The salesman, correctly noting the junkie gleam in my eye, said, "Hmmm, if you like the Messermeisters, check out THIS [the 6" chef's]... that's a sexy little knife..." Yeah. It was. I bought it. It instantly became my favorite knife. More than any other knife, it feels like an extension of my hand.
Oddly, if I was advising a new cook, I'd say the first knife you get is an 8" chef's knife. But I wound up without one for a long time, and by the time I got one recently, as a gift, I was so used to doing everything with either the 6" or the 10" chef's knives that I practically never use the 8".
