Not Bad, But...Jul 05, 2010
By spork These are Henckels knives, and NOT the "international" brand so they're great, right? Right... and wrong.
It's obvious to me that these knives are very high quality, but there was one thing that irked me upon receiving my knife set. The most useful knife, the chef's knife, was... (cue music) dull. I'm not sure if they're supposed to arrive dull or not. I've heard rumors that sometimes knives are sent "factory dull" but it seems dumb to buy a knife that I have to take to a professional to sharpen. Yes, that's right, the knife is so dull that a few pulls on the sharpener ain't gonna cut (pun intended) it.
Now, don't get me wrong, it still cuts, but I expected a blade so sharp that it cuts most things like hot knife thru butter. The blade I got, I have no fear touching the blade with my bare fingers. Heck, I have no fear tapping my fingers pretty hard on the blade. It's as sharp as an old dull steak knife. In the end though it's a relatively minor thing since I can tell just by feeling the blade that it's very high quality. I just need to pay someone to get it sharpened which is additional money I didn't expect to have to pay. For those of you who are wondering if I'm just expecting too much out of my knife: my friends didn't believe me that a Henckels knife can be that dull but when I showed them my knife and let them touch the sharp part of the blade, they understood.
That said, the other 2 knives and scissors are dandy.

Great Knife SetApr 08, 2010
By Stephen J. Kosta Good, solid knife set. I've learned that you have to get used to working with really sharp knives! Carves turkey and lamb like butter. Recommemd..
Great set of knives, They did NOT send the block as advertised.Jan 30, 2010
By M. Phillips This is a great set of knives, very sharp and well work the money compared to other sets of knives (JC Penny) I purchased and returned after just looking at the quality of the knives.
The knives are very sharp so be careful.
The knive block advertised in the Amazon.com picture with the spaces in front for the steak knives was not the knive block that Amazon mailed me. The knive block that arrived had no spaces for the steak knives that come free with this set.
I also received a $10.00 check about three weeks after my purchase from Con Neste magazine as I opted out of the free one year magazine subscription that comes with this set.
An excellent set of knives at an excellent price even though the block did not arrive as advertised.
