 The best set of Knifes everDec 19, 2007

I have been in love with these knifes since the day I first purchased them and for good reason. Each knife is well balanced and heavy. The Ergonomic, polypropylene handles feel good and well proportioned to my hand. The blades are sharp and have done a good job at staying sharp.
* 5 inch - Santoku Knife
Great chopping knife for mincing, slicing and cutting through bones like nothing. I use this as an all purpose knife. I'm thinking about buying another because I love it so much. I have used the santoku knife to cut through raw chicken bone like it's nothing. Even after a good deal of abuse, the blade of the santoku knife is a little chipped and worn but still does an amazing job of cutting.
* 8-inch chef's knife
I use it to cut through large heads of vegetables. It long enough to cut through a cabbage head easily and with little effort. Can slice a tomato easily without squishing it.
* 5-inch serrated utility
Great for cutting through bread and hard crust.
* 4-inch paring
Good for peeling carrots, skin of tomato and other small jobs
* 2-3/4-inch paring/boning
Good for cutting meat and meat from bones.
* Kitchen Shears
So very useful. I use it from cutting open packages to even cutting up herbs.

I have purchased J.A Zwilling knives before due to the outstanding quality and the workmenship (AND YES BECAUSE THEIR PRODUCTS ARE MADE IN GERMANY) but it seems they want to destroy their long first rate heritage by now having their Premium sets slowly made outside Germany (THE WOODEN BLOCK IS MADE IN CHINA)I totally agree with a reviewer that was also let down, if I wanted something made outside Germany I would have purchased it and at a friction of the price I paid for this set.. J.A Henckels already have a cheaper range in the `International line` of theirs, why blur the lines and source parts anywhere but Germany for the top of the line products..
The reviewer who made the comment about the person complaining about the sticker on the box and the silly comment that followed about being more logical in their comments should ask themselves why the Purchased the Twin Line of products instead of the International line, if they don`t appeciate quality and what they are paying a premium price for!!!

the Henckels four star II set is a great set of knives. The blades are sharp, the ergonomics are great. And priced at $280 for an 8 piece set (5 knives) they are sure to sell fast.
All top knives are dish washer safe, but you dont want to put these in the dishwasher, hand wash and hand dry for best life.
The block is good quality so the person complaining about the sticket on the block should probably think about being more logical in their comments.

Knives look great, though they seem lighter than I recall. Haven't got the chance to cut anything with them though.
Was a little let down by the "Made in Malaysia" sticker on the block, and the stickers on the knife handles (which were peeling off slightly) which is the main reason I gave four instead of five stars.
