Yes it is just a large block of wood with slots cut in, but if you have a large collection of Henckel knives and outgrew your block or have a few random knives you would like to store together with your set, then this block is the way to go. Looks good on the counter, knives go in on their side, room for a medium cleaver, steel, and shears, as well as 8 steak knives.

This J.A. Henckels Twin 22-Slot Knife Storage Block is the perfect addition for any kitchen. Are you tired of hunting through the drawer to find the knife you want? The Henckels knife storage block is the perfect way to keep your knives in order. The slots are large enough for the knife to easily side in and out of the block. There's space for your meat fork, your sharpening steel and even your bone scissors. This block is easy to clean and has rubber pegs on the bottom to stop it from sliding across the counter when you're inserting or removing items. I wouldn't be with out mine.

Finally a knife block the holds all my knives. This block is sturdy and holds all knives from a set plus the few extras all cooks have laying around.

I love my new knife block. I read many reviews and looked a different types for a long time before I decided on this particular model. I have a wonderful collection of Cutco knives (the best, in my opinion) and wanted to get all of them in one block. This fits the bill. The slots are large enough to accommodate my largest butcher knives and the Santoku knives and I have room for all my steak knives in the lower section. The block is well-finished and not so large that it takes up too much counter space.

This item is really overprice for a piece of wood with slots.
Cheaply made in China. You can buy the 19 slot version for $39.95 on Amazon.
