5Works like crazyJun 18, 2010
By David A. Leon
I just invested in a set of Wusthof Classic Ikon knives, so I decided I should purchase and excellent honing and sharpening system along with it. After much consideration, I decided this Furi set was the best option on the board.

The system just arrived yesterday. Naturally, my first thought was: Where can I find a really dull metal blade that I can try this system on? Immediately the thought came to mind: At work! We have a small set of ultra-cheap Ginsus here, featuring a single Ginsu Bakelite Santoku. It's been here for at least four and maybe five years. No one has sharpened or honed it even once during that time. The Santoku was as dull as a butter knife, and I am not exaggerating one bit. I could not shave hair off my arm, I could not feel an edge, and I could not cut my arm either. The edge was flat.

I gave this Ginsu 13 licks with each of the 3 stages, no more and no less. I brought a big carrot with me to work today to test it. Guess what? The carrot is sitting here in thin slices next to me as I write this. I would say a few of these wafer thin slices are just a few mm thick. Whilst that Ginsu is no match for my Shun Gokujo, it's pretty damn sharp, and fully functional.

If that's what this system can do with a piece of stamped stainless steel with no edge, I am looking forward to seeing what it will do with my Wusthof blades.

5Furi Tech Edge sharpener is wonderful!Jun 24, 2009

I love this device! It has brought my dull old knives back to life! it's easy to use, quick and highly effective. There's nothing worse for a dedicated cook than dull knives and thanks to this they are a thing of the past in my kitchen! I had tried a variety of other sharpeners and nothing works as well as this.

5Furi Tech Knife sharpener is really good.Jan 28, 2009

Easy to use, and it really does sharpen knives properly. A really beautiful piece of design--the curved sharpening surfaces give the proper angle without any particular skill from the user.

5Furi Sharpening SystemFeb 04, 2009
By John M. Pellegrini "Steam Chief"
When the Furi was delivered I immediately opened box, read the directions and sharpened every knife in the house. It is as easy as the commericials on television. The Furi is compact, has it's own storage pouch, and does not need electricity. It would be great for camping, catering, or around the home. My next project is to take it to our church and sharpen every dull knife in the kitchen. This will be a joy to have sharp knives in the church kitchen.

4very nice works as describedSep 28, 2011

I took a super dull knife and went through all three stages. I told my wife I sharpened it but she didnt really pay attention to as what I said. But later when she went to use the knife she said "WoW this thing works great". The purpose of getting the kit was due to the fact I started cooking ribs and cutting them was a chore with the knives we had. Also my wife has always managed to cut herself alot while prepping the food. I figured out that a dull knife in the kitchen is VERY dangerous. I learned that while prepping the ribs and had to cut through the breast plate part on the top of the rib. while doing it we both were struggling to force this knofe through the bone and at 1 point I suggested a hammer to bang it through. I bought a furi knife as I realized the knives I had at home arent good cept for lettuce lol. Anyhow thats the reason for the sharpner was to keep my "good knife" (we all got one) in proper order. Thats when I tested it on the bad knife and now shhe loves it. Oh and the finger cutting is gone. :)
