DisappointingNov 08, 2009

This turned out to be a poor product. Cheaply made, it is difficult to ignite and has a very limited capacity for butane storage, which means one is contantly refilling it. It has tiny plastic levers supposedly to prevent accidental ignition, but they just sort of flip back and forth loosely, failing to make a positive lock. This thing is junk.

terrible looking torch. this torch is a scale down version. it's tiny.
the ramekins are very low end product. needless to say, I would recommend getting something else cost a little more. similar product sell at bed bath and beyond for $19.99

Works for the jobSep 17, 2010
By AA The ramekins are what one might expect for Crème Brulee individual servings. The torch is lightweight and does the job but it is difficult to manage with the safety switch. I am certain there must be some safety ruling that requires it. It just is a little awkward to hold and try to use.

DISASTER--AVOID AT ALL COSTSDec 31, 2011
By Blair Wisco This product is fundamentally flawed.
The ramekins are three, rather than four, ounces, so most recipes will yield too much custard for these ramekins. Second, the torch is essentially impossible to use--the butane leaks when filling, it isn't clear how much fuel is in it, and doesn't work for torching even one ramekin before going out.
My husband and I gave this to my sister and we are now looking to replace it after embarrassing ourselves.
Save your money / stop the headaches and buy something else.

Great Product!Sep 20, 2010
By shakiki I bought one of these torches (not the set with the ramekins) off eBay, new in box, in late 2007 for around $12 shipped. I wasn't expecting much because of the cost and just needed a handheld locking self-igniting torch for soldering. I used this torch numerous times until late 2009 when it simply stopped igniting, unfortunately! I used this torch for lighting fires in the fireplace, soft soldering (using flux & solder), melting pennies (just to show people how hot it'd get) and I'm sure there's more stuff I used it for that I cannot recall at the moment. I don't recall if I checked the reviews here before making my eBay purchase (for the same torch model) but as disappointed as I was when the torch broke (after 2 years of use) I was more delighted with the things I did with the torch during the duration it was working. I'm actually looking into one of the torches with the fuel indicator as it's a pain not knowing how much butane is left which, while soldering, WILL leave you hanging. I am, however, quite pleased with this model torch and would get another if it had a fuel indicator.
