this set of knives was my first anolon purchase and my third set of knives, four years ago. Since then, I've gotten many anolon products, and given away one of the other sets, and relegated the other remaining set to tasks which i don't deem "worthy" of my anolon knives. These are some beautiful knives, and they're plenty sharp. Granted, they're a fraction of the cost of some of the other brands, so don't expect them to hold an edge quite as long or to be quite as sharp. I use them everyday in my home, however, and they serve my needs perfectly, and are easy enough to sharpen myself using a honing steel and 2-stage ceramic sharpener. The handles provide an excellent grip, and the chef's knife is nicely balanced, but not all that heavy. Over 4 years of use, I've found that these are still my favorite knives, and I imagine they'll be at the top of my list until I eventually pony up and buy some more expensive wusthof knives or something like that.

I have the block set and was cracked my chef knife from misuse. I know I know...This was the perfect way to replace it at a decent cost. People notice & compliment my knives as soon as they come into my kitchen

These are good basic knives that can be kept sharp with a ceramic sharpener. They are a good place to start if you don't know exactly what you want and don't want to spend big $$$ on name knives.
