Great for pasta, soups and stewsApr 07, 2007
By Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01 I got this because I saw Rachel use it on her food network show. I watched her show occasionally and I like her and some of her ideas although I am not a devoted follower.
I like having a big heavy duty nonstick pot for pasta and it works great for cooking soups and stews. I have stainless steel cookware and compared to my stainless steel pots this is functional and easy to clean. The oval shape is easier to handle compared to a big round tall pot, the dome shaped lid allows more cooking flexibility, it conducts heat well and Anolon makes quality cookware. I also purchased the 5-quart Oval Saute pan and the lids are inter-changeable. This is great for the times you don't need a lid that is domed and taller, has a vent, and you need to see the dish you are cooking.
I like the looks of this line better than her other line with the safety orange handles. That line has the same pot with a flatter glass top with no vent and it is called an 8-quart oval stock pot.
I watched the price for a while before I made a purchase. The price on this pot went up and down; as high as $99.00 and as low as $66.88. A friend who is a longtime Amazon shopper suggested putting it in my cart and waiting until it hit a good price to purchase it I did, I got it at a good price and I am happy.
So this is a great pot heavy duty and cleans easy. If you are a Rachel Ray fan but not into her line of pots with handles the same color of orange construction cones this is a great choice.

Awesome!!Nov 30, 2006

This is an awesome pot! I have a big family and this pot makes browning large roasts and huge batches of hamburger for chili and tacos so simply. No more stirring and loosing half your meat outside the pan or having to do multiple batches. Great for making huge pots of soups and stews. Big time saver for busy cooks. The oval design leaves room for other pans to be used on stove top at same time. Clean up is also a breeze. You will not be disappointed with this pan. It is worth every penny!

Love ItFeb 11, 2007
By P. Braun This pot is so versitile. It is so easy to boil spaghetti in it because of the shape. And with the vents in the cover nothing boils over and you can drain the pasta right through the vents. It's also great for chili, stews, soups etc. Very even heating. It cleans up so easy.

Love this pot!Feb 05, 2007
By Mikki I really love this pot. It is perfect for spaghetti, fettucine and especially lasagna noodles, which come out nice and straight. It is quite versatile--not just good for pasta cooking. This pot is not too heavy but solid, has nice silicone handles, and is easy to clean. I also own the 5-qt. oval saute pan with a glass lid, and the lids of these two pans are interchangeable. I'll use the glass lid for watching big batches of chili, stew, soup or marinara sauce without having to open the lid.
I happen to have a ceramic cooktop with a bridge burner and these oval pans work great on that, but I have also found they both cook quite evenly even on my regular large burner. I recommend both this and the 5-quart oval saute pan.

These are the best design yet for multiple pans on the average stove top. The non stick coating seems to be the best yet.
