Could use a 'helper' handle...Apr 16, 2005
By Jolly Gourmand This heavy weight (tall) pot along with cooking contents is estimated to weigh over 10 lbs. A helper handle to assist with straining would certainly be a nice addition. Other than that, Anolon 'Advanced' is one of the best. There are pouring spouts on each side. This makes it the only pot I have ever seen that is 'southpaw' friendly. This beauty heats evenly and is a snap to clean.
12/5/05 Update: I recently used this pot to boil some Russets for mashed potatos. When I went to strain them, the weight of 2 qts. of water (4 lbs.), plus 1 lb. of Russets, plus the 3 1/2 lb. pot, plus 'X' pounds of pressure on the lid to keep the contents from spilling out was just too overwhelming for 1 elderly male's hand/arm. I would rerate this to 3-Stars if the primary user will be elderly (or a woman who is not into body building). For the more youthful of you, the lack of a helper handle will not seem to be as great an issue and the 4-Star rating would be appropriate.
12/22 Update: I finally 'caved' and am giving this to my son (who won the SE benchpress championship some years ago).

A great pasta potMay 13, 2007

I wasn't sure I'd like this pot all that much, but now I don't think I can live without it. Being deep, it's perfect for boiling pasta for two, and by using the lid to drain, you can add all the rest of the ingredients and toss it right in the pot, then serve. Yet when the lid is set not to drain, it is heavy and tight enough you can use it to steam cook rice as well. The silicone handles on the pot and lid are a very nice touch.

Good size and easy to cleanJul 08, 2007
By kito I would have given this 5 stars if it were a bit lighter in weight.
The 1st time I used this pot, I forgot the time and I ended up
with burnt sauce stuck to the pan.
Normally I would have ruined a pot or would have been left with black burnt pan markings after cleaning.
This pot was easy/fast to clean and looked brand new afterwards.
Very pleased with the pot and the discounted price.

Analon Hard Anodized 3.5 quart saucepanJan 01, 2010
By Mouse First, practical dimensions:
5 1/2 in tall without lid. 8 3/4 in tall with lid. 8 inches wide with pour spouts, 7 1/4 inches without pour spouts. 14 inches wide including handle. Silicone grips on lid and handle. Glass lid with stainless steel, which I prefer, with large and small drain holes. Very handy. Cleans like a dream, no dishwasher needed... It can't be put in the dishwasher, which might be a mark against it for some, but I don't use a dishwasher, so it's great to be able to clean it by hand so easily. It's tall, so can be used on smallest burner for better electric consumption. Have a glass top range, so hard anodized is the only way to go for me.... My heavy stainless steel pots just take too long to heat. Plan to hang on to them however....
I do concur it could use a helper handle. It's capacity is approximately 7 pounds of water (approx 8 lbs to the gallon) so it can get heavy.
I like the capacity of this saucepan, was originally looking for a 3 quart, but I'm now glad I have the extra room. It seemed all the other 3 quart pans (except Analon which, to me, was too expensive) came with stainless lids which I'm not fond of. All in all, a very good saucepan for me.

Good pot, but handle could be better designedNov 26, 2008
By Helena I've had this pot for about 2 months now and for the most part I've found it be be an excellent pot. It's easy to clean and it looks nice. I bought this pot in part because of the straining lid, but I haven't used that function more than a handful of times since I often avoid using it so that I have one less lid to wash.
My one complaint is that the insulating grip is flush with the (hot) metal part of the handle closest to the pot. Because of this, there's a likelihood for skin-metal contact, especially since this pot can get a bit heavy and thus encourages a closer grip distance; I've scorched my index finger a couple of times while grappling with the handle. If it weren't for this design flaw, I'd be perfectly happy with this pot.
